WRITING

My new novel, East Fortune is published by Bloomsbury. Set in Scotland, it's the story of three brothers, their parents, partners and children -  and a love triangle in which one of the participants is dead.  Here's an extract, to give you an idea of the tone and feel, read by the fabulous Bill Paterson:

Canvey Island has just been published by The Other Press in New York. The New York Times reviewed it well:  "Runcie fully understands that the lingering trauma after a major disaster is often far more devastating than the disaster itself. He has written an insightful novel about the perils of survival."

The book is also published by Bloomsbury in the United Kingdom and by The House of Books in Holland (as De Stormvloed). Soon, rather amazingly, it will be available in Turkish. Again, you can listen to the Opening Chapter to get a feel.

LIFE

I've just finished a film with David Starkey for Channel 4. It's the first in a six part series called The Genius of British Art and should be shown in October 2010. I am now moving on to make a film with Griff Rhys Jones for BBC 2 about Tribal Art, and a film with Andrew Lloyd Webber about the Pre-Raphaelites for ITV.

We've started planning next year's Bath Literature Festival which runs form February 25th- March 6th 2011. Hopefully it's all going to be rather exciting. The programme will be published here – click here

If you want to know more about dates, times, availability and all those kind of things then do contact my agent David Godwin, or send me an email. I'm away quite a lot at the moment but will do my best to respond as soon as I can.
